***NOTE! After the success of this little tutorial, I have created a much bigger one based on it. Please proceed to it here: [link] ***

A reference for proportions and the most outstanding details you should know about when drawing the human figure. These are things to keep in mind that should help you learn to see; my recommendation is that you use it as a supplement to regular and perseverant sketching exercises. Carry a sketchbook around and gesture-draw people around you, especially people in motion. This way you are forced to use fast gesture drawing and not go obsessive over the details, and that is how you can achieve a solid grounding in grasping form and movement before moving on to worrying about surface additions such as clothing and expression. think of the human body as an assortment of volumes, not as lines put together.

The full version of this and the rest of my tutorials are now available collected in a book! See [link] for details

Daily DeviationI'm no drawing expert (I can't even draw an apple), so I believe I know what I'm talking about when I say this tutorial is extremely helpful. Express guide: Figure drawing by *Cedarseed helped me draw a near-flawless human figure for the first time in my life. So, if you have trouble with the human figure, give this a look. That is, without a doubt, the single most articulate and well-written accompanying comment I have come across on dA to date. AND it's practical! Ha!
It's nice to be appreciated! :)
Certainly the most helpful Guide I have seen in years. I am suprised people haven't flooded this Tutorial with comments yet.
Thanks! I guess it just hasn't been viewed that much.
Excellent, not only will I refer other people here but I will find it amazingly useful myself.
There have been times when i have wished i could just refer people to something like this rather than type out a load of stuff.
I kiss you!

That would be immensely appreciated, thank you!
 no problem and, not to be too blunt, a lot of people need refering (myself included)
